Scotland's Changing Population

Aug 11, 2016

NRS today published the Register General’s Annual Review of Demographic Trends – Scotland’s Population 2015. The salient points being:

  • that Scotland’s population continues to rise, mostly due to migration. In 2000 the population was 5.063m, in 2015 5.373m,
  • the population is ageing,
  • there are more people moving into Scotland than leaving and,
  • there were fewer births in 2015 than in previous years.

The Scottish housing market needs to respond positively to these latest published figures.
