Gladman, on behalf of the landowner, has successfully promoted this 12.4 hectare site for the development of around 150 new family homes (15% affordable), set within a generous network of public open space and landscape planting.


Following the statutory pre-application consultation process, an application for planning permission in principle was submitted to West Lothian Council in September 2014.  The application was refused by West Lothian Council in March 2015.

Gladman lodged an appeal to Scottish Ministers in June 2015, addressing each reason for refusal (17 in total) by written submissions.

Scottish Ministers issued a Notice of Intention to allow the appeal and grant planning consent in December 2015, and following intervention by West Lothian Council, a second Notice was issued by the DPEA in June 2016, subject to a legal agreement to cover the matters of affordable housing, education infrastructure, public art, cemetery contribution, active open space, and road safety improvements. 

Planning consent was finally issued in October 2016, and it is anticipated that marketing of the site will commence before the end of the year, with site start likely towards the end of 2017.
