Winners - Buccleuch Property Challenge 2018 – Gladman Scotland

Sep 10, 2018

Well done to Simon, Matthew and Chris who finished in 1st place in the Buccleuch Property Challenge 2018 on Friday 7th September.

Buccleugh 2018 winners

For the last five years, Gladman has entered teams into the Buccleuch Property Challenge and this year was no exception. Two teams were entered into the challenge, the first team was made up of Simon Dean, Matthew Rose and Chris Wright and representing the second team was Gerard McHenry and Richard Lewington.

The main focus of the day and the challenge was to raise money for charity, Projekt42. Through the number of teams participating, sponsorship, a raffle, charity auction and also through awareness of the charity, we hope a significant amount of money has been raised for a fantastic cause.

Like previous years, the day had a series of checkpoints and challenges, spread across the Drumlanrig Estate. With no fixed route, teams are required to plot the best possible course on mountain bikes, whilst overcoming various disciplines along the way, such as hill running, kayaking, archery, stand-up paddle boarding and orienteering.

The Gladman teams navigated themselves around the course and both put in very strong performances. This was reflected with the 1st place for Simon, Matthew and Chris and 13th place for Gerard and Richard's team. Unfortunately, everyone except Richard was driving, but he was able to enjoy a cold beer afterwards on behalf of the rest of the Gladman teams.

Well done to our teams and also all the other teams that entered and thank you to all the organisers and volunteers.

The course and activities were thoroughly enjoyable and we would highly recommend entering a team into the challenge next year. Unless you have the fitness level of an Olympic athlete because we can’t retire with the trophy just yet and want a chance of retaining it.
